Coach Landon Dunker brings 13 years of playing experience and 2 years of coaching to the 8U baseball team, focusing on strong fundamentals and a love for the game.player who has been coaching our SMBA camps, skills clinics and coached our SMBA 10u Club Team. He coaches baseball at our SMSA Multisports camp and is the Assistant Coach for our 8U Club Team!

SMBA 8U – Building the Foundation for Future Stars
At Santa Monica Baseball Academy, our 8U program is where young athletes begin their journey into the world of baseball. Designed for players aged 7–8, this program emphasizes fun, fundamentals, and fostering a love for the game in a supportive environment.
What Players Will Learn
Our 8U program introduces young players to the core fundamentals of baseball, including proper hitting mechanics, accurate and safe throwing, basic fielding for grounders and fly balls, and smart base running. We also emphasize teamwork, helping players learn how to support and communicate with one another on the field.
Every Day Something New!
The best part about our academy is player's come here to learn, get better an have a good time doing it! In our training environment the focus is on personal best and getting better. Supporting your teammates and building a structure of team environment each week so when we go play, we are doing as a team and building up our game and each other!
Program Highlights
- Age Group: 8-9 years old
- Practices: Held twice a week, focusing on basic skills like hitting, throwing, catching, and base running
- Games: Scheduled on weekends to apply learned skills in a game setting
- Clinics: Optional weekly clinics to reinforce fundamentals and introduce new concepts
- Coaching: Led by experienced coaches who specialize in youth development
